"Mancini's Blues"

Reblogged from yaniourad:

With four games remaining in the Barclays Premier League, Man Utd restored their 5 point lead over arch-rivals Man City with a comfortable 4-0 win over struggling Aston Villa. Interestingly, after Man City thrashed West Brom 4-0 and Norwich 6-1, Mancini is still playing down his team’s hopes of their first league title since 1967-68 season. It seems the Manchester City dressing room does not share their manager’s opinion that the “title race is over ” despite having closed the 8 point gap to 5 as Manchester United were outplayed at Wigan, ending United’s eleven match-unbeaten run which included eight wins on the bounce.

Emerging technology!

The piece of new emerging technology that I am interested in is the extinction of the mouse as we know it.

The computer mouse as we know is almost 40 years but some of the leading researchers are saying that the computer mouse is coming to an end. Steve Prentice a Gartner analyst said “The mouse works fine in the desktop environment but for home entertainment or working on a notebook it’s over,” but do we agree that the computer mouse has come to an end?

I agree that a mouse is good for the desk environment but I also think that the idea of the waving my hand across the view of a webcam to change the page or to scroll is an awesome idea.

The idea of not having to use a mouse to control your computer has largely been inspired from the gaming community. Such new gaming software and hardware such as the “Xbox Kinect” and the very popular “Wii” have gave software developers a very clear insight into what can be done and what can be used to control your computer without a mouse.

Many of main idea’s are using your body as the control central, for example if you lift your hand the camera will recognize and will allow you move something such as move to the next page if you wave hand or even change the channel. But some very complex systems are using emotive systems which allow the user to control a device by using thoughts. Emotive systems will be the next big thing withing the world of modern technology.

Diigo: I signed up for Diigo and quickly i saw that it would be a useful website to use during this ICT course, if I come across any sites or anything on a specific site i can easily highlight it and save it on my Diigo so that I can easily find the things I’m looking for.

Twitter: I have had a twitter account for quite some time but I have rarely used. Thanks to the lesson I had today I saw some of the things i can use it for e.g. i could ask a question and my friends or followers can reply to that question, its a helpful website if i maybe missed something in class one of my classmates could fill me in.#

Prezi: Prezi is a very new and exciting for presenting, similar to powerpoint in some ways but very different in others. I have used Prezi before and it much easier to use than powerpoint and much more entertaining.

Dropbox: Is a website which allows you to save docs, photos, and videos and it makes them very easy to share them with others.  Looks like it could be a useful website during this course.

Linoit: Lino is a web-based stick note service, it gives the users a way to takes notes online or on their computers and gives them a virtual canvas to let them post on. Its a good way for logging notes virtually.

Google mail: Google mail is an E-mail service provided by Google that can be connected to phones and tablets easily. Its a good way to send and receive information and news. Also it allows to have a Google+ account witch is a new social networking idea by Google.

Evernote: Evernote allows to save ideas, things you see and things you like. Then you look at these things through your Evernote account on any computer. A very useful site during this course in case I forget my laptop in lessons.
